Color holds strength and power both on its own and in combination, everything depends on the harmony and balance of the composition. Bright and muted, intense and restrained: the choice between opposites is always different. What appears harmonious and controlled on its own can sometimes turn, together with others, into a true burst of exuberance.
The same applies to the artists participating in the exhibition — within a group show, the contrasts and strengths of working side by side become visible. The Estonian Textile Artists Association brings together artists with very different creative positions and distinctive artistic languages, united by the central role of textile as their primary material.
hibition of the Estonian Textile Artists Association, which has already become a tradition, is a highly anticipated event for both the participating artists and the public. The exhibition at the Museum of New Art also highlights the recipients of the association’s annual awards.
The title of Textile Artist of the Year 2023 has been awarded to Aet Ollisaar. The Young Textile Artist of the Year 2023 is Maria Kristiin Peterson. The Textile Act of the Year 2023 recognition was granted to Maryliis Teinfeldt-Grins for the community project “Who Will Remember Last? Who Will Remember Better?”.
In addition, the jury’s special prize for long-standing and consistent research work and for advancing the field of textile art was awarded to Kadi Pajupuu.
