WORK OF THE YEAR 2024
LAUREATE

Ilja Uhlinov, "Void"

The Textile Work of the Year 2024 award was presented to Ilja Uhlinov (b. 1991) for his tapestry “Tühjus / Void” (linen, wool, cotton, viscose, 2024), exhibited at the annual exhibition of the Estonian Textile Artists Association, “Color of the Year Is Diverse”, at the Museum of New Art.

Ilja Uhlinov graduated in 2017 from the Textile Department of Pallas University of Applied Sciences.

Ilja Uhlinov: “For me, art is a revelation. It is a process of creation in which the artist essentially acts as a mediator between God and the work. It is also an impulse that leaves a mark in our minds in the form of images, symbols, words, or actions. Each artist chooses their own method of transmission and expression. This image came to me in a dream: a large, pure, snow-white sheet of paper. It was flawless and entirely perfect, like boundless, unconditional trust. It literally radiated light and love, harmony, and the unity of all things.”
